Beyoncé beats husband, Jay-Z…. becomes most Grammy-Nominated artist in historyPublished 6 mins ago on November 16, 2022By editor

The Renaissance Age of Beyoncé has given her yet another place in Grammy history.

The superstar received eight nominations for the 65th annual Grammy Awards, bringing her total number of Grammy nominations to 87, the Recording Academy revealed Monday. Beyoncé has received the most nominations of any artist in history thanks to these new nominations, surpassing Jay-Z, who had previously held the record. She has received 80 nominations, making her the first female artist to do so.

This year, she garnered nominations in the categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year for “Break My Soul,” Song of the Year for “Break My Soul,” Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul, Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove,” Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa,” and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Be Alive” from King Richard.

She tied Paul McCartney for the second-most Grammy nominations in 2020 with 79, making her the most nominated female artist overall. According to the official Grammy website, at the time, only producer Quincy Jones and rapper Jay-Z had received more Grammy nominations, each receiving 80.

The nominations announced today also position her to surpass other artists in terms of Grammy wins. Georg Solti, a prominent conductor who has won 31 accolades, currently holds the title. As of now, Beyoncé is the most honored female artist with 28 golden gramophones.

Grammy Awards: Beyoncé’s Renaissance

This past July, Beyoncé released Renaissance, her seventh studio album. The businesswoman made hints about the album’s concept in an interview for Harper’s BAZAAR’s September 2021 cover story long before she formally confirmed the project.
